Names of 3D Shapes
3D shapes have three dimensions - length, width and height. Nearly all objects around you in the real world are three-dimensional.
A cube has six square faces - like a dice.
A cuboid has six rectangular faces - like a cereal box.
A sphere is a ball - like a football.
A prism is a special 3D shape with the same cross-section all the way through - like a Toblerone box.
A pyramid has a base (usually triangular or square) and side faces which meet at a point - like the Pyramids in Egypt.
A cone has a circular base and meets at a point - like an ice-cream cone.
A cylinder has two circular faces (top and bottom) and one curved rectangular face - like a tin of baked beans.
